Work Place EQ- How to Avoid Social Landmines at the work place.

There’s a strange moment that happens to a lot of people at work. You can be smart, disciplined, talented, reliable, driven… maybe even the strongest performer in the room. You hit deadlines. You solve problems. You carry entire projects on your back. And then one day, something changes. Your boss suddenly becomes colder. You stop getting invited into important conversations. Promotions stall. Opportunities dry up. People act weird around you, and nobody explains why. The worst part is that many times, it has absolutely nothing to do with your actual work performance. In this video, I talk about the hidden rules of workplace survival—the social dynamics, ego management, hierarchy, and unspoken expectations that quietly determine who succeeds and who gets pushed aside. These rules exist everywhere: in offices, schools, martial arts gyms, military environments, social circles, and especially in traditional Asian work culture where respect, status, and “face” matter enormously. Living in the Shadow: Fathers, Sons, and Carving Your Own Path

There’s something ironic about stories—and life. Take Dragon Ball, for example: Gohan was clearly set up to replace Goku as the next hero. By all accounts, the story said it: Goku even tells him he has the potential to be stronger than himself. The stage was set. And yet… as the series continued, almost every new adventure circled back to Goku. Gohan? Mostly sidelined. Even Android 17 sometimes got more screen time than him. For fans, it’s jarring—how do you go from being the chosen heir to practically disappearing from the spotlight? This irony isn’t just anime drama; it mirrors real life in ways that are striking and, sometimes, heartbreaking. When a parent sets an almost impossible standard, when a child is capable but overshadowed, how do you grow without losing yourself? Martial arts are not just about punching and kicking. They’re not just about tradition, or getting in shape, or even learning how to fight. True martial arts—complete martial arts—are built on three timeless foundations: 演 (Performance), 練 (Conditioning), and 打 (Combat). Without understanding and developing all three, your training will be lopsided, fragile, and ultimately incomplete. An old proverb captures this perfectly: 練功不練拳,猶如無舵之船;練拳不練功,到老一場空。 To train the body but not the art is to sail a rudderless boat. To train the art but neglect the body is to grow old with empty hands. Image:  A man practicing boxing or martial arts. He is wearing a black shirt and appears to be punching a black punching bag. The punching bag has a white circle with a yellow border and the number "1" in the center. The top part of the bag has the word "PROGRESSION" written on it. The man has short, dark hair and is focused on his movement, with his arms raised and mid-punch. The ...
