I Am Toxic! Call Me CHAD!

Image
So, apparently, I’m a “toxic male.” At least, that’s what some friend tried to tell me the other day. His argument? “Johnny, you do martial arts, you work out, you’re confident… don’t you think people who are weaker, less sure of themselves, or gay might feel inferior or uncomfortable around you? Aren’t you… toxic?” Image: A person with long dark hair tied back is in the foreground, wearing a black T‑shirt. They are holding a large kitchen knife or chef’s knife in their right hand, raised up in front of them, blade pointing upward. The setting appears to be a cluttered room. Behind the person, on the wall, there is a framed picture of a tiger. Nearby are colorful shelves or boxes with various items and figurines. On the right side of the image, partly on a couch or cushion, there is an orange cat curled up and resting. There are also plastic crates, bags, and other household items scattered around, giving the room a busy, lived‑in look. [ ] 😂 First of all, I had to laugh. My a...

When Smell Betrays You (And What That Says About Humans)

Shopping while blind kind of sucks. Yeah, we’ve got AI now. Glasses, phone cameras, apps that swear they can identify products. They help, no question. But let’s be real: they’re nowhere near perfect. Stores are loud, crowded, chaotic, and sometimes you’re in a hurry. Sometimes there’s a line of people behind you. Sometimes the AI takes forever or gives you the wrong damn answer. Image: Busy supermarket checkout with long lines of shoppers waiting. Two women sit at closed registers, distracted by phones or papers. Overhead signs read closed and 1005. Shelves of products fill the background. [ ] So yeah—sometimes you grab the bottle that sounds right and move on, because standing there asking your phone “IS THIS STRAWBERRY OR FUCKING MENTHOL?” while people sigh around you is exhausting. That’s how accidents happen. That’s how strawberry shampoo happens. I didn’t notice it at the store. I didn’t care at home. Shampoo is shampoo, right? It cleans your hair. Mission accom...

When Communication Bites You in the Ass (And You’re Supposed to Be the Expert)

Image
Let’s talk about communication—the sexy little skill everyone thinks they’ve mastered until it turns around and spanks them in public. I recently made a video outlining what I believe are the four essential elements of being a good communicator. They are: Stay true to your principles. Start from a balanced position. Put your emotions away. Use empathic communication skills. Sounds solid, right? Very educated. Very mature. Very… textbook. But here’s the twist. I’m someone who’s studied psychology and sociology, someone who lectures, teaches, runs workshops, and helps people literally fight their way through life—and even I get bitten in the ass by communication. Repeatedly. Why? Because no matter how skilled you are, communication is a two-way street. You could be the smoothest talker alive, but if the other person’s not ready to hear you, it won’t matter. Sometimes, it’ll just blow up in your face. Let’s walk through these so-called golden rules—through th...
