The Great Cthulhu Figure – A Nightmare You’ll Love to Touch (and Curse)
If there’s a god of madness in plastic form, I just met him—and I carried him home in my suitcase. No joke.

Meet the Great Cthulhu figure, a massive monster of a collectible I picked up while visiting my sweetheart Desi in California. I wasn’t sure how I’d get this beast home to Canada, but—surprise!—he breaks down like a LEGO nightmare: hands, legs, tail, belly, wings… in the end, I managed to stuff over 10 dismembered cosmic parts into my luggage and smuggle the apocalypse north. Romance, horror, travel-friendly—what a combo.

At first glance, this $200 collectible is a feast for the eyes. At second glance, you might cry a little. See, while some listings boast he's over 11 inches tall, that’s only if you straighten him out like he’s doing yoga. In reality, if you pose him like he’s meant to be—T-rex-style crouch, tail stabilizing him—he stands at a chunky, glorious 9 inches tall. Width-wise? A winged 14+ inches. Front to back, 7 inches. Size-wise, he's still a shelf-dominating leviathan.

Let’s talk feel—and I don’t just mean visually. I’m a blind collector, and I gotta say, this thing is hand candy. Tentacles, barnacles, claws, scales, wrinkled skin, hard shell, soft suckers—every surface is a new adventure. I’ve had him on my desk for two weeks, and I still discover new textures every time my fingers wander. It's like a secret language whispered through tactile detail—if that whisper came from a deep-sea abomination.
Image: Close-up of the figure’s back reveals intricate sculpted details: swirling patterns, mask-like shapes, curled horns, and sharp spikes. Blue lighting highlights the textured surface, adding depth and a mysterious, otherworldly feel.

Articulation-wise? That’s where things get sticky—literally and figuratively. The joints are floppy, especially in the legs. The figure is solid and heavy, easily over 5 pounds, and the weight drags those limbs down like Cthulhu’s been skipping leg day. The wings, shoulders, and hips have limited range, and posing can be more prayer and patience than precision. For something in this price range, that’s a hard tentacle to swallow.

But then—he looks so damn good. From every angle, he radiates boss monster energy. He’s the kind of figure that doesn’t need a backstory; he is the story. Whether you’ve got NECA kaiju, Mythic Legions demons, or Savage Crucible’s fish-folk, this beast fits right in. Not necessarily as Lovecraft’s original kaiju-sized world-ending horror (unless you scale down your world), but more like a demonic overlord, or an ancient sea-god stirring beneath the waves. Think: final boss, dark patron, nightmare fuel. Whatever narrative you place him in, he commands attention.

Oh, and did I mention? He’s got a removable belly panel that hides a tiny creature inside. Yup. Headcanon unlocked: that’s the real Cthulhu, and the rest is just his meaty mecha-suit. Gross? Yes. Amazing? Also yes.
Image: Close-up of the figure’s open belly reveals a bright red, brain-like core with textured folds. Green, spiked limbs frame the cavity, emphasizing the creature’s monstrous, detailed design.

Some folks online called this "a big jumbo of plastic pieces" and said it made them "go a little mad." Baby, those are compliments. Holding this thing really is like holding a giant, living lobster—hard, spiky, jointed, but with just enough give to be unnerving. There’s something truly unnatural about how solid yet weirdly floppy it feels, like you’re not supposed to be holding it. And I mean that in the best way.
Image: Cthulhu’s back is covered in textured, dark scales, lined with bony ridges and pale, oval nodules. Massive, tattered red wings and twisting green tentacles extend outward, creating a fearsome silhouette.

So, would I recommend it?
If you're looking for pristine articulation and rock-solid joints? Maybe not.
But if you're craving a statement piece that oozes monstrous personality, stunning paintwork, and enough tactile goodness to keep your fingers busy for weeks? Oh yeah, baby. The Great Cthulhu delivers—just not gently.
