💀 Figure Feature: Desiccator – My Blind Box Win & Collector’s Redemption

Some eBay purchases are duds. Some are decent.

And then… some explode out of the box like a biomechanical beast from the past and slap your collector’s soul right across the face.

This is one of those stories.

I recently picked up a random figure lot off eBay. I had no idea what Desiccator looked like—hell, I didn’t even know what he was. But that’s part of the thrill when you’re a blind collector: sometimes you just feel your way into greatness.

And this time? I struck dark, demonic gold.

Desiccator, from McFarlane’s Spawn Series 13: Curse of the Spawn (released in 1999), turned out to be the highlight of the haul—and honestly, one of the most jaw-dropping figures I’ve handled in the last few months. Back when he originally dropped, I was in a dark period—leaving home, scraping through college, broke and burned out. The only thing I was collecting then was emotional trauma.

Finally getting this figure in-hand now? It’s not just nostalgia. It’s vindication.

👿 Who Is Desiccator?

Real Name: Cole Justin Lianso
Affiliation: Anti-Pope’s Army
Origin: Curse of the Spawn (Issue #1)
Alignment: Villainous brute with a biomech body count
Eyes: Red and deadly

Desiccator was one of the Anti-Pope’s top-tier hunters—a hulking war construct that pursued Madrid Llanso and her son after Daniel Llanso was reborn as the new Hellspawn. That reunion ended with Daniel ripping Desiccator to pieces… and honestly, he probably deserved it.

On your shelf, though? Desiccator’s still winning.

Display Ideas:
Whether you're building a Spawn shrine, a Resident Evil-style lab escape scene, or a “monster shelf,” Desiccator fits in like the B.O.W. no one survived long enough to catalog.

Image: Two action figures facing off. On the left, a figure resembling a Big Daddy from the Bioshock video game series, wearing a bulky diving suit with a large drill weapon and helmet with glowing yellow lights. On the right, a large cyborg creature with exposed muscle, mechanical armor, spikes, and colorful cables, baring its teeth aggressively.

If you're one of the lucky few that have acquired the Mutant Earth line by the legendary Stan Winston, Desiccator looks like a reject from that line as well.

Image: Two detailed sci-fi miniatures: one green, monstrous and armored, the other a mechanical cyborg with pipes and wires. They stand before a vivid, cave-like illustrated backdrop with abstract robotic art.

Awww look, he's got a pet :) yep! that's the Raptar figure from Mcfarlane's short-lived RAW-10 line.

And how do you beat a big demonic cyborg? By bringing in an even bigger cyborg of course!

Image: Cy-Gor, a massive black gorilla with metallic armor, towers over the smaller, cybernetic Desiccator. Both Spawn comic figures face off before a vibrant, sci-fi illustrated backdrop with robotic elements.

Nah... All you need is a Hellspawn:

Final Score:
🔥 9/10 – One of McFarlane’s most overlooked monsters, full of rage, detail, and shelf presence

  7. Missile Pod Detail:
Each missile pod shows off the dynamic mid-blast sculpt—orange, fiery, and translucent, like frozen chaos. The missiles themselves are detailed but fragile, angled like they’re mid-launch. [
