🐘 Figura Obscura Ganesha Review- **Four Horsemen Studios — Wisdom, Power… and a Whole Lotta Accessories**
🧠 A Little Elephant in the Room (History First, Baby)
Way before **Four Horsemen Studios** became the legends we worship today, they were grinding it out under **McFarlane Toys** in the late 90s.
Back in 1997, there was this gloriously unhinged toyline called *Total Chaos*… and arguably the crown jewel of that madness?
**Poacher.**
A pot-bellied, trophy-draped, gun-toting elephant bounty hunter who looked like he’d RSVP’d to a Yautja tea party and brought the bodies as gifts.
Image: A tense face-off plays out on a shelf: two elephant-headed warriors stand opposite each other as if moments from conflict. On one side, a regal, temple-guardian figure radiates authority—light gray skin, an elaborate gold headdress and layered armor packed with filigree and red jewel-like accents. Its trunk is decorated with red painted markings, and bright beads and ornaments frame the face. Flowing green fabric crosses the torso, and the outfit is finished with bold yellow trousers banded in vivid blue. A gold staff is gripped like a symbol of power, giving the pose a commanding, ceremonial feel.
Facing it is a grimmer brute built for battle, its darker gray body covered in deep, wrinkled texture. Bone-like trophies are lashed across the chest and shoulders, while a black wrap with orange stitch details adds a rough, scavenged look. A long weapon rests across its shoulder, and a large double-headed axe with bright silver blades is held forward, turning the stance into a clear challenge.
Behind them, a purple-and-gold ornamental backdrop—full of circular mandala-like patterns and column motifs—frames the confrontation like a mythic stage set.

]
Now, no—McFarlane didn’t bother properly crediting sculptors back then (shocking, I know 🙄), but considering the Horsemen were working there—and there’s literally a *Cornboy* figure in the line—the odds are *very* high that Poacher was their first crack at an elephant warrior.
Poacher even got a second life in **Spawn #34**, again with unclear Horsemen involvement.
Then came their own baby—the **Seventh Kingdom** era (early 2000s), where we got full-on elephant soldiers and the mighty commander Ramathorr. I missed most of that line too—trying to be a “responsible adult” and finish college. Regrets? Oh yeah… collector-level regret that stings to this day. At least I snagged Bigara the White Tiger (BBTS exclusive)… the rest? Probably gone forever unless the Horsemen decide to bless us again.
Fast forward to the **Masters of the Universe Classics** days—around 2011—and boom:
Two elephant boys enter the arena.
(Still salty about those subscription hoops, by the way. Just take my money and give me the damn figure. Don’t make it a loyalty test.)
And then… silence.
For nearly a decade, the Horsemen seemed to have kicked the elephant habit.
Until 2025.
And now?
We get **Ganesha.**
Image: booklet-top section has dense white text paragraphs; bottom section shows a large yellow circle with ornate mandala border.

## 🛕 Who Is Ganesha, Really?
**Ganesha** isn’t just “elephant guy.”
He’s:
* The **remover of obstacles**
* The **bringer of luck and success**
* Patron of **arts, knowledge, and writing**
* One of the **most widely worshipped deities in Hinduism**
Image: booklet-with a line drawing of Ganesha on top and white text below. Title reads “Lord Ganesha and His Broken Tusk.”
Image: [
]
He’s often shown holding sweets (modaka), symbolizing the rewards of a wise and disciplined life. People pray to him before starting anything important—business, journeys, creative work… yeah, even art projects like yours.
Now here’s the part that surprised you—and honestly, should:
Ganesha isn’t just brains and blessings.
He throws hands too.
### ⚔️ Combat & Myth Feats
* Wields the **parashu (axe)**—a weapon of divine authority
* Uses the **pasha (noose)** to bind and control chaos and obstacles
* Has gone toe-to-toe with demons and cosmic threats
* Snapped off his own tusk and kept going like it was just another Tuesday
He’s not your battlefield berserker—but he’s that calm, immovable force that *wins anyway*.

## 🐘 First Impressions – “Why Is AI Calling This a Statue?”
I take a lot of toy photos… and I rely on AI to describe them.
Normally it’s:
> “This is an action figure of blah blah blah…”
But with this guy?
It kept saying:
> “STATUE.”
That right there tells you everything.
The sculpt, the presence, the aura—this thing doesn’t *feel* like a toy. It feels like something you should light incense next to.
Image: A tight close-up highlights the upper body and trunk of the ornate elephant-headed collectible. The skin is a pale gray with fine, pebbled texture, and the long trunk runs diagonally across the frame. Down the center of the trunk is a bold red painted line, decorated with short, feather-like strokes that branch outward in a repeating pattern, making the marking feel deliberate and ceremonial.
Two ivory-colored tusks curve outward from the face, each with visible woodgrain-like striations. At the shoulder, a richly detailed gold-and-blue ornament sits like a pauldron or decorative clasp, centered with a glossy red gem. Layers of costume fabric surround it: a purple wrap near the neck/shoulder area and bright yellow cloth with a vivid blue band further down. A string of small white beads peeks out near the collar area, adding another texture contrast against the metallic gold trim.

## 🎨 Sculpt & Paint
This is Four Horsemen flexing.
* **Brute-scale body**, but new pot-bellied sculpt
* Thick, powerful arms (classic Horsemen anatomy)
* Intricate elephant head with:
* deep wrinkles
* smaller, accurate Indian elephant ears
* articulated ears (!!)
Image: This close-up isolates the head and torso of the elephant-headed collectible, emphasizing its sculpted skin texture and expressive animal features. The face is turned slightly upward, with a small, dark eye set into deeply wrinkled folds around the brow and cheek. The trunk curves up and out of frame, banded with ring-like sculpting and topped with the same red painted pattern along the ridge. One tusk is visible, a pale ivory tone with subtle grain lines.
The near ear flares outward like a thin, rippled fan, with softly shaded paint along the edges that makes the membrane feel delicate against the thicker, pebbled skin of the head and shoulder. Across the waist sits a rich mix of fabrics and ornament: a purple sash, gold trim with swirling designs, a strand of small white beads, and a panel of bright yellow cloth. The pose reads as mid-step or braced, with the rounded shoulder and bent arm forming a compact, powerful silhouette.
[
]
### Paint Highlights:
* Natural **elephant grey base**
* Subtle **pink airbrushing** in ears and trunk
* White facial markings with **red sacred symbols**
* Rich, vibrant outfit:
* Yellow pants with blue trim
* Purple belt
* Gold jewelry with insane detail
Every bead, every ornament—clean. No slop. Factory nailed it.
Image: This shot frames the collectible from the side, focusing on the torso and arms rather than the head. The pale gray body has a fine, pebbled texture, with visible articulation cuts at the shoulders and elbows. One arm stretches forward with an open, slightly curved hand, while the other hangs lower in a relaxed bend, giving the pose a calm, controlled feel.
The costume’s fabric elements stand out: a bright yellow garment wraps the hips in thick folds, cinched at the waist by a purple sash. Over that sits an ornate gold belt band with scrolling patterns, bordered by a neat strand of small white beads. On the wrist, a bracelet of tiny beads—mostly white with a few tan and light-blue accents—adds a softer, handcrafted detail against the sculpted skin. A cool bluish cast from the lighting grazes the forearm and side, making the textures and seams pop.

## 🧸 Accessories – THIS Is What We Pay For
Let’s not sugarcoat it:
Some recent Figura Obscura releases were kinda… light.
This guy?
He came to *overcompensate*.
### You get:
* 2 trunks (posed + bendy)
* Multiple hands (including peg hand)
Image: This image shows a small cluster of loose collectible parts laid out on a smooth, light-colored surface under cool, bluish lighting. Two curved elephant trunks are visible, each molded with ring-like segments; one has a red painted line with short branching marks along it. Around them are several gray hands and forearms with visible peg connections at the ends, plus at least one wide, fan-shaped elephant ear piece. The parts are grouped close together, suggesting a swap-out set for different poses or expressions.
[
]
* **Parashu (axe)**
* **Pasha (rope/noose)**
Image: A small selection of ornate collectible accessories is arranged against a black perforated display panel. At the top sits a domed gold headdress piece, ringed with layered ridges and dotted trim, and decorated on one side with silver filigree and red jewel-like details. Below it is a tiny gold bow, sculpted with a looped grip and delicate curves.
Across the lower portion lies a long ceremonial weapon in matching gold: a staff-like handle with segmented bands leads into an axe-shaped head covered in engraved swirl patterns, with a silver hook-like flourish curling underneath. Several small black mounting clips are scattered around the pieces, holding them in place.
[
]
* Halo (Prabhamandala)
* Soft goods shawl + sash
* Layers of necklaces, bracelets, bangles
Image: More accessories are displayed on the same black perforated panel. Dominating the upper area is a large circular gold halo-like frame with scalloped edging and layered engraved bands; two small side arms protrude from it, each tipped with a red jewel-like accent. A green ribbon or sash with gold trim is attached near the top left, trailing off to the side.
Down the center are several small gold ring pieces in different designs, each clipped to the board as interchangeable ornament parts. Near the bottom right sits an oval gold frame with a beaded edge, and inside it a looped strand of beads in white and bright blue arranged in a figure-eight shape. A cluster of bright LED dots glows along the far right edge of the image.
[
]
* Bowl of **modaka** (pegged!)
* Fruit set (grapes, apples, bananas)
Image: This is an atmospheric close-up of a gold accessory set on the black perforated panel, lit with a cool blue cast. The main piece is an oval, halo-like frame with a beaded edge; inside it sit layered decorative elements, including a small gold ring and a strand of beads with bright blue sections.
In the foreground, a separate ornament partially blocks the view: a cluster of glossy red bead-like spheres attached to a green, leaf-shaped flourish. A striped ribbon detail runs behind the leaves, adding a fabric texture against the metallic gold parts.
[
]
* Rat companion (technically his mount)
Image: A small gray rat accessory is posed clinging to a round, fan-like disk. The rat’s sculpt has dense, shaggy texture, a long thin tail, and tiny raised paws braced against the surface; its mouth is open with a red-painted interior. The disk behind it is a warm reddish-orange with tight radiating ridges and a raised central knob, like a parasol or decorative shield piece.
[
]
* Stool for seated display
Image: This accessory reads as a ceremonial stool. The base is a chunky, layered gold cylinder with raised bands and small dot details, giving it a richly carved, temple-like feel. On top sits a round, reddish-orange cushion with tight sunburst ridges and a small raised center button, like a pleated seat pad.
Behind it, other gold accessories are stored against the black perforated panel, including an oval beaded frame with blue-and-white bead strands, and the lower edge of a larger circular halo piece near the top.
[
]
Dress him down?
Chill elephant dude.
Image: The elephant-headed collectible is posed in a lively, celebratory stance, arms spread wide as if mid-dance. Its pale gray body shows fine, wrinkled sculpting on the face and trunk, with a bold red painted line and branching markings running down the trunk and a red symbol near the base. Long ivory-colored tusks angle outward from the cheeks, and the large ears flare to the sides.
The costume is bright and ornate: billowy yellow pants are banded with vivid blue strips, paired with silver-and-gold anklets and bracelets. Across the torso sits layered jewelry and armor-like ornamentation in gold and silver, dotted with turquoise and red jewel details, plus purple fabric accents and strands of small white beads.
It’s equipped with extra accessories that add personality: one raised hand holds a bunch of purple grapes on a pale backing, another hand carries a brown-and-cream sweet or bun-like item, and a third hand presents a cluster of glossy red fruit alongside green leaf pieces. The overall presentation feels like a deity or royal figure depicted in abundance and festivity, with the black perforated display wall keeping the focus on the figure’s colors and intricate trim.
[
]
Dress him up?
Full-blown god of destiny.
That kind of display versatility? That’s premium stuff.
Image: A lavish offering scene is set like a miniature temple tableau: the elephant-headed figure stands in full regalia, one hand lowered with a small gray rat companion at its side, while the other grips a gold ceremonial axe as if guarding the feast. In front, a gold stool topped with a reddish-orange cushion becomes an altar of abundance—bright red fruit nestled under pale green banana-like pieces—while a separate dish of purple grapes sits nearby, ready to be presented.
The figure’s pale gray face and raised trunk draw attention, marked by a vivid red symbol and a red, branching stripe running along the length of the trunk. Ivory tusks frame the mouth, and a large gold halo-ring behind the head gives the pose a divine, icon-like presence. Flowing green sashes cut across the chest, contrasting with layered gold armor and beadwork, and the yellow trousers with bold blue bands keep the palette bright and celebratory. A purple-and-gold decorative backdrop behind everything reinforces the feeling of a staged shrine moment rather than a simple display.

## 🦾 Articulation
For a chunky brute?
He moves *real* nice:
* Ball-jointed head & waist
* Swivel/hinge everywhere you want
* Fully articulated **four arms**
* **Articulated ears** (still wild to say)
* Swappable trunks with solid peg system
He poses like a champ… within reason.
Image: The elephant-headed figure reads as if it’s mid-tumble in the middle of its own feast—ornate body twisted sideways, arms flung out, with the trunk curling forward like it’s trying to regain balance. The red, branching stripe and symbol on the trunk stay front-and-center, and the flared ears and tusks give the moment a startled, kinetic feel rather than a calm display.
The offering props heighten the sense of chaos: a bunch of purple grapes sits on a small plate near the top right, while bright red fruit and a fan of pale green banana-like pieces hover close to the figure’s torso and hip, as if they’ve been jostled out of place. The bright yellow pants with bold blue bands and the layered gold-and-gem chest ornamentation flash under the harsh LED dots to the right, turning the spill-and-stagger moment into a dramatic, comedic beat in the scene.

## 😤 The Gripes (You Knew This Was Coming)
Let’s be honest, baby:
* ⚖️ **Top-heavy** → balancing him is a pain
* 🦵 **Loose hips** → legs wanna split like he’s doing yoga
* 🍎 **Food accessories don’t attach** → they just… sit there
* 🪑 **Stool is gorgeous… but frustrating**
* Hard to get a natural seated pose
* Needs a peg or support system
Image: the elephant-headed figure is draped awkwardly over the gold stool, torso pitched forward and legs bunched up as if it’s just toppled into the seat. One arm reaches outward for balance while the other hoists an offering bowl overhead, turning the pose into a frantic “save the snacks” scramble.
The divine regalia still frames the chaos—green sash across the chest, layered gold-and-bead adornments looping around the body, and bright yellow pants with electric-blue bands. Below, the feast has slid to the edge: a small plate holds purple grapes alongside bright red fruit and pale green banana-like pieces, all clustered near the glowing row of LED dots on the black platform. The purple-and-gold palace backdrop behind it makes the stumble feel like it’s happening right in the middle of a royal banquet scene.

Honestly?
A **dedicated seated lower body** would’ve solved everything. Some third-party companies are already doing that—Horsemen could take notes here.

## 🤔 The Shelf Debate
Let’s talk real for a second.
Superheroes on a shelf?
People go: “Okay… nerd.”
But something like Ganesha?
Now it’s:
> “Oh damn, that’s cultural. That’s art.”
And yeah—I feel you.
As someone with Asian roots, supporting mythological figures like this?
That hits different. Pride, respect, connection—it’s all there.
At the same time… it *is* a deity people still worship.
And yeah, that’s a little weird to wrestle with.
But the Horsemen handled it with respect:
* Accurate symbolism
* Thoughtful accessories
* Even included lore booklet
So instead of feeling cheap… it feels intentional.
Image: A mythic three-way standoff fills the frame, staged like a throne-room confrontation. At the center stands Ganesha, rendered as a richly decorated collectible figure: an elephant head crowned in ornate gold with red jewel-like accents, a halo ring behind, and a raised trunk painted with a red symbol and a branching red stripe. Flowing green sashes cross the chest, yellow trousers with vivid blue bands anchor the silhouette, and a gold axe-staff is held ready; a small gray rat companion reaches forward at his side.
To one side, Zeus squares up as an older, muscular, tan-skinned man with a thick white beard, bare chest, and a purple wrap with a pale blue patterned sash, one fist lifted in challenge. On the other, Hades looms in a dark teal robe, pale blue skin and a severe, taunting face under blue hair crowned with orange flame-like shapes, leaning in as if to provoke the next move.
The purple-and-gold palace backdrop sells it as a divine courtroom drama, with bright vertical light bars at the edge giving the scene a harsh, theatrical spotlight.

## 🖤 Final Thoughts
At first, I didn’t know where he fit.
My shelf is war—Conan, Kratos, Aragorn, undead armies, chaos everywhere.
Where does a chubby elephant god of wisdom go?
Image: A new challenger storms into the shrine-like set: a red-robed monkey warrior squares off against Ganesha as if the argument has turned into a duel. The monkey figure is a burst of motion and color—snarling mouth open, fur-framed face, and a long tan tail arcing behind. It braces wide in ornate gold-trimmed armor and tangled red cloth wraps, hauling a long black staff overhead like it’s about to bring it down in a crushing strike. Green bead strands and layered metallic details crowd the chest, adding to the sense of martial pageantry.
Ganesha holds the ground below, still radiant in gold headgear and halo, trunk raised with the red painted markings. The yellow-and-blue trousers and flowing green sashes keep him visually regal, even as his arms lift in a defensive, ready posture. The purple-and-gold palace backdrop turns the clash into a mythic stage fight, with the bright side lighting making the gold filigree and red fabrics blaze against the scene.
[
]
But then it clicked.
He’s not there to *join* the battle.
He’s the one deciding who wins.
Image: An ornate duel is frozen at its most dangerous beat: an elephant-headed warrior braces himself on the ground while a gold-armored female fighter erupts above and behind him in a wide, acrobatic split, her curved blades arcing through the air as if she’s mid-strike.
The elephant-headed figure reads as a richly decorated deity-like combatant, with gray skin, a long white trunk marked by bold red striping, and an elaborate gold crown and chest armor studded with red and blue jewel-like accents. A green sash drapes across the torso, and bright yellow trousers with vivid blue bands add a ceremonial punch of color. One arm reaches outward in a commanding gesture while the other grips a gold mace-like weapon, giving him the stance of someone holding his ground.
Above him, the female opponent is all razor-edged elegance: gold-toned armor wraps her limbs, dark swirling markings trail along her legs and arms, and an intricate horned headdress blooms around a pale face with dramatic eye makeup and red lips. Long black hair whips outward, amplifying the sense of motion, while the twin curved swords frame her body like sweeping crescents. The purple-and-gold temple-style backdrop behind them heightens the drama, turning the posed collectible figures into a scene that feels mythic and theatrical.

## ⭐ Final Verdict
✔️ Stunning sculpt and paint
✔️ Loaded accessories (finally!)
✔️ Deep cultural and mythological weight
❌ Balance issues
❌ Missed opportunity on seated engineering
**9 / 10 — A near-masterpiece with just enough frustration to keep it real**
Image: A blue cat-headed warrior stands planted and ready in the foreground, weapon angled down like a warning, while an elephant-headed, gold-armored giant hangs over the scene from the upper left, turning the moment into a looming face-off.
The Bastet figure has a deep blue feline head with tall pointed ears and crisp gold-and-blue decorative striping in an Egyptian style. The body is lean and brown-toned, wrapped in layered white cloth with a bright blue belt and long blue-and-gold paneling down the chest. Turquoise bracelets and anklets ring the wrists and ankles. One arm bends toward the torso while the other grips a dark, paddle-like weapon fitted with several curved metal prongs, giving her a ceremonial-yet-lethal silhouette.
Above her, the elephant-headed figure dominates with gray skin, a long white trunk marked by red lines, and dense gold filigree armor with red jewel-like details. A green sash crosses the torso, and yellow trousers with bold blue bands pop against the purple-and-gold temple backdrop, sharpening the sense that these posed collectible figures are caught mid-confrontation.
